What are eyelash extensions?

Eyelash extensions are a weightless, semi-permanent eye enhancement. Eyelash extensions are individual lashes made of silk, mink, or a synthetic material that attached one at a time to the natural lashes. There are two different types of eyelash extensions: Classic and Volume. Classic Eyelash Extensions are shaped like a single eyelash. These extensions are available in a variety of widths, lengths, curls, and colors. With Classic Lashes, the individual lashes are attached using a semi-permanent adhesive that is specifically formulated so it will not irritate the eyes or damage the natural lash. With Volume Lashes, multiple lashes (two to six) are adhered to a single lash. Eyelash extensions allow natural lashes to grow (and fall out) on their own cycle.

How are the lashes applied?

Extensions are made of individual synthetic lashes, carefully and precisely applied to your natural lashes, one by one, by our certified lash artists. We use medical-grade glue and products of the highest quality that keep your lashes healthy.

Can lash extensions really look natural?

Our eyelash extensions do look natural, since they are applied one by one and follow your natural lash line. You are able to choose the length, thickness, curl, and color you want. Lengths can vary from 6 to 17 millimeters, most patients tend to choose a length between 10 to 12mm. Lash extensions have several curl options as well; a “J” curl is ideal for a more natural look, while a “C” curl is more appropriate for patients looking for a more dramatic lash. Clients can also choose to mix and match the curl styles for an even more customized look.

How long will my lash extensions last?

The look can be maintained indefinitely with regular lash fills. When applied properly, lash extensions last through one full growth cycle of the natural eyelashes, typically six to eight weeks. For best results, regular maintenance is recommended every three to four weeks. It is normal to see a natural lash with its root attached to a lash extension when shed. This does not mean you are losing your lashes or that the extensions are damaging them.

How should I prepare for my appointment?

Prior to your visit to Mina K Lashes, we recommend cleansing your face so that it is fresh and free of makeup. Do not curl your lashes before your appointment. We also recommend you do not drink coffee, as it can cause you to blink. Once at Mina K Lashes, be prepared for some relaxing and pampering time.

What is the procedure like?

Most clients think the procedure is soothing and relaxing. In fact, many of our clients fall asleep during their appointment. Getting eyelash extensions is painless, gentle and relaxing. You will be comfortably reclined with your eyes closed while synthetic lashes are applied to each natural lash using a medical-grade adhesive.

Will eyelash extensions damage my natural lashes?

No. In fact, lash extensions are much kinder to your natural lashes than you might think. With natural lashes, you might need to curl and apply mascara to them, which can dry out or even break your eyelashes. Eyelash extensions eliminate the need for both.

How do I care for my eyelash extensions?

Eyelash extensions do not require you to adjust your normal routine or lifestyle — if anything extensions will make your life easier! For the first 24-48 hours, avoid getting your lashes wet. This means, avoid swimming, hot steam, and sauna rooms. Never pull or rub your lashes. Use a non-oily, water-based eye makeup remover when removing eye makeup. Do not use a regular eyelash curler on your extensions, as that can damage the extensions. Do not use mascara.
